But the reality is even if a house is in perfect condition, it’s not going to matter much if prospective buyers think that the home’s curb appeal is, well, less than appealing.

Get your lawn professionally landscaped. Although you might be the one who has been cutting your yard and trimming your bushes ever since you’ve been living at your house, when you’re trying to attract people to your home, you might want to consider hiring a professional landscaper. Not only can they manicure your lawn, bushes and trees, but they can also advise you on things that you can do to make your yard look like it should be featured in Better Homes and Gardens magazine.
Purchase a new mailbox. Just about all of us have driven past a house that honestly, we couldn’t fully focus on because the mailbox looks like it’s on its last legs. That said, a simple thing that you can do for your curb appeal is to purchase a new mailbox. You can find them for a good price at your local home improvement store and they’re relatively easy to install.
Change your front door. If you don’t want to paint the exterior of your house (which is also a smart idea), consider at least changing your front door. You can paint your wooden door red or white, have a glass door put in or even have a door custom designed. All of these suggestions can help to give your house a lot of character. Paint your porch. If it’s dirty or has oil stains on it, put some kitty litter on the spots, rub your foot on it (to make it penetrate into the pavement), let it sit for a few minutes and then sweep it away. Then follow that up by rinsing the driveway off. If it’s a gravel drive and it’s in your budget, have it paved as well.
